Business Insurance
Business insurance can cover most businesses, including the building trade, offices, shops, restaurants, public houses and hotels.
It covers for Public Liability Insurance that will protect the insured against claims for damage or injury to other people. Public Liability is fairly cheap for most businesses.
Personal Insurance is a good idea if either the insured or key worker were to become unable to work causing the business to suffer.
Insurance that covers tools of the trade is necessary for some businesses more than others.
General Business insurance would cover loss of profits should the place of work be damaged or stock damaged or stolen.
Professional Indemnity Insurance is useful for those whose business involves giving advice to clients. This would include solicitors, financial advisors, architects, doctors and business consultants. This can be expensive so asking the relevant trade association or institute is a good idea as they sometimes offer subsidised rates.
If working from home the house Insurers should be notified and asked if cover includes running a business from home. This very often is not included in ordinary house insurance.
Everyone employing staff from occasional to full time is legally bound to have an Employer’s Liability Insurance. This protects both employee and employer from claims made in relation to accidents that occur at or related to their work.
